Consultation costs if you are paying yourself
You can still have all the benefits of private care, and it is probably more affordable than you think. There are lots of advantages of private healthcare.
- You will see Dr Gamble personally every time – see a consultant who can get to know you.
- No waiting list.
- Appointments on time and in a pleasant environment where there are few people waiting.
- All the time you need to answer any questions you may have.
- No GP referral is needed if you are paying yourself.
Dr Gamble’s fee for an initial consultation will be £250.
Dr Gamble may recommend additional tests in order to fully diagnose your issues – you do not have to have these, but they are likely to help clarify the diagnosis. For most people he will suggest a 12 lead ECG (heart tracing; £100). Often he will also suggest an echocardiogram (ultrasound scan of the heart; £420). These tests would be done on the same day. In some cases he may suggest a 24 hour ECG (£330) or an exercise stress test (£330). You may not need a follow-up visit, but if you do it will be £160.
Telephone or video consultations: £180 for first consultation, £130 for follow-up consultations.
It is possible that other tests (such as blood tests or imaging, for example an X-ray, MRI or CT scan) may be recommended to help Dr Gamble diagnose and investigate your condition – if so these will be discussed with you to help you decide if you want this.
Information if you have private medical insurance
If you have private medical insurance, please contact your insurer before your consultation, to check the terms of your policy. Please particularly check the level and type of outpatient cover you have, including any reimbursement limits on individual consultation fees. May we respectfully remind you that it is your responsibility to do this before this appointment and any future appointments or procedures in order to obtain an authorisation number for them. We will require this authorisation number and your membership number for invoicing purposes. Please note that some insurers will not cover the entire cost of your consultation and investigations and any excess remains your responsibility. Please ensure the you pass on your insurance policy and authorisation details to the hospital when you arrive or to Dr Gamble’s team before your visit, otherwise the invoice may be sent to you.
Most private medical insurers require a referral from your GP before you can be seen, please make sure you have arranged this if appropriate.
Dr Gamble is recognised by the following private medical insurers: Aviva, BUPA, Vitality Health, AXA PPP, Healix, Cigna, Beneden, Aetna Global Benefits, and WPA. If you are covered by a different insurer then please do get in contact with us – many other insurers have their care provided by the companies above, so it will probably be still possible to see Dr Gamble.
